The S Family…Surrounded by Boys :) {The Woodlands, TX | Family Photographer}

I can’t imagine being  Mrs. S, Mom of three boys full of energy all day long!  Being the only woman in the house, I’m sure she’s got to be pretty tough to survive all of that testosterone on a regular basis :).  You can tell that she loves being surrounded by her boys though…each and every one of them!  Thanks to the S Family for a fun-filled and energy packed session!

The A Girls… {The Woodlands, TX | Child and Baby Photographer}

I’m so glad I got to meet The A Girls!  Baby A has the most gorgeous head of hair I have ever seen on a 6 week old!  Bright eyed and curious, she was just a doll for our session (and she reminded me that there really isn’t a wrong age to get portraits done of your children…you can read more about that here).  Her big sister was so full of energy, spunk, pizazz.  She brought the session to life and gave me such a wonderful variety of expressions to photograph–I love, love, love how much we captured in such a short session!  Thank you Mom and Dad for bringing them out for me to photograph–I had a blast and hope you did too!

When is the Best Time to have Portraits Done? {The Woodlands, TX | Family, Child, Baby Photographer}

When is the best time to have portraits done, whether it’s family, child, baby, etc.?

….Now.

Short and simple I know, but it’s true.  Sure there are ideal ages to capture your little one’s growth and development, but if you miss those, it shouldn’t be an excuse to just keep waiting for the next stage.  Sometimes it feels like there’s never a right time…as we all know, life just keeps finding ways to get in the way, and before you know it you’ve missed huge gaps of time instead of just small deviations.  I would be the first to tell you that 6 weeks is probably one of the hardest ages to photograph a baby–they aren’t sleepy and poseable like a newborn, but they still can’t really do much of anything themselves yet.  Is it a reason to just skip it if you missed the newborn stage–not at all.  Check out this gorgeous little 6 week old and tell me this picture isn’t just priceless for Mom and Dad…

If it’s been more than 6 months for babies/toddlers, or one year for older children/families; I encourage each and every one of you to set up a portrait session with someone as soon as you can–even if it’s not me.  Theses aren’t just images, but memories stored away safe from time, and chances are you will deeply regret not having them someday.  I’ve heard far too many sad stories lately of opportunities to capture these memories lost forever, so please  make it a point to put this on your agenda…it’s always the right time.

Lovin’ the L Family…{The Woodlands, TX | Family Photographer}

You never know where life’s turns will lead you…but this time they led me to the L Family–full of fun, energy, and Love of course!  I met Karen back in May when I photographed for Woodlands Mommy at the Mother’s Day Soiree on Market Street.  Karen is of course the brains behind, mastermind of, and beautiful face (I had to add that one because it’s just so true!) for Woodland’s Mommy.  For those of you who don’t know about Woodland’s Mommy–I highly encourage you to go check it out…now.  It’s a great resource for Mom’s in The Woodlands, TX and surrounding areas.  You can find ideas for things to do with your kids, great deals, and valuable information.  The website is www.woodlandsmommy.com, and you can find them on Facebook too for helpful updates on a regular basis.

Okay, a more personal side of Karen and the rest of The L Family :).  I’m so glad to have met them and that they chose me to capture their beautiful family!  From our first meeting, I knew we were going to have fun :).  They are truly the most fun-loving, easy-going, and friendly family.  If you know them, I’m sure you know what I mean!  I hope you all enjoy the images of them as much as I enjoyed capturing them!

Featured Vendors…Baby Cake Bowtique and Leilani’s Heavenly Cakes {Sara Jensen Photography}

Baby Cake Bowtique is the maker of all things girly (and some little man stuff too!).  From custom clothes to headbands, hair clips, t-shirts, and soon even shoes :).  The beautiful dress above is just one of her lovely creations…I love the detail of how she trimmed the bottom and the arm holes with a cute coordinating fabric.  She’s local to me, so we’ve actually had a chance to get to know each other a little bit, and she really is a sweetheart!  She’s a self-taught sewer and crafter, inspired by her own little “Baby Cake” :).  You can find some of her products at her Etsy Store:

Or you can visit her website  www.babycakebowtique.com

Leilani’s Heavenly Cakes is also local to me, so I’ve been lucky enough to taste her delicious treats–the cake above was made for my daughter’s second birthday, and I can tell you it was a big hit!  Again, I’m always impressed with attention to detail–I love all of the beautiful decorations on this cake, the fun colors and designs, and even the fact that she wrapped the cake board to look neat and pretty.  The whole thing was just perfect!  She also makes other baked goods–cookies, brownies, etc.  I can’t wait to get a chance to test those out too :).  You can find out more about Leilani’s Heavenly Cakes by visiting www.leilanisheavenlycakes.com!

Christmas in July with my new “Vendor’s Page”! {The Woodlands, TX | Photographer}

Here it is, 4th of July–celebration of Independence and Freedom!  We live in such a wonderful country and the opportunities we have are so amazing.  I’m so grateful to live in a place and time when we are all free to follow our dreams–the possibilities are only limited by our imaginations.  I’ve already had such an amazing journey with starting my own business, and I know how important it is to connect with other small businesses out there–we all really depend on each other to get our work seen and heard!  I’ve recently added a new page to my website–the “Vendor” page.  I’ve started a list of different small business vendors that I have worked with (or will soon!) who might have items for sale that will help you “accessorize” your portrait session (or your everyday life!).  I can’t wait to work with everyone from this wonderful group of people even more in the future!  To celebrate the new vendor section and small businesses everywhere,  I will be hosting a Giveaway very soon!  It’s going to be “Christmas in July”, and you don’t want to miss it!  Stay tuned this week to see previews of the vendors that will be involved…full details of the Giveaway will be announced Monday, July 11th!  Go ahead and check these vendors out, and tell them I sent you!
